A defunct ferry system that once operated between the Hawaiian Islands is showing signs of coming back. In terms of cost, I think it's going to be somewhat higher that the suicide prices the Oh, one more thing just came to mind; we better hope that the Superferry floats because a significant portion of its funding is backed by something like the maritime administration/taxpayers.

Traveling between all of the Hawaiian Islands by boat is not a new idea. Short of an organized cruise, there really isn’t a way for tourists to get from island to island via boat, with the exception of Maui and Lanai. A lot remains to be seen.I do know that on the channel crossing from the mainland to catalina, on those ferrys.... smaller than the sooper dooper ferry....that tales of sea sickness abound.We made that passage mostly , skippering sailing or motor vessels with no problems, and never had a problem on the express boats,or large power cats, that were known affectiionately as cattle boats. I do know local boaters make that trip, and they say it is generally a rough one.However, the super ferry may be more stable than the 100 ton catalina boats, and be able to handle the seas better. I usually did not have that happen too often on charters, and never had it happen on any catalina curises, that I skippered.Hope this helps out some of those who may be going out on napali trips, or longer passages. (I had the details bookmarked, but lost in a PC crash; if anybody has a link, I'd appreciate it).There is a great deal of local oposition to the ferry, and will let you know how all that works out.
