I think if you are looking for historical entertainment this movie is a great choice. My mother was Bavarian and there were several mixed race children-the Bavarians called them Mischlinge-in her town and they were not discriminated against and definately not attacked by mobs of children. Shows how a father's belief in his son was important in the young guy's life. Excellent film, gut wrenching and yet uplifting.
