Lexi sabotages a Valentine's Day date with one of her love candidates. Michael learns of Jane's potential illness and offers to support her. Paul tells Matt that Carol has moved out, but she is actually just out of town for the weekend. Colleen visits, and tells Jake that her marriage is in trouble. Spider is killed in a shootout, and leaves Michael a key to a locker filled with cash. Michael and Ryan get into a scuffle, and Megan cracks Ryan over the head with a lamp. Nurse Benson realizes that Kimberly is crazy, and tries to release the trio. Jake pushes Alison to give Billy another chance. Alison insists on making a presentation at a software convention, but fails to show for a lunch meeting. An outraged Jane throws Jake and Alison out of the store. Kyle escorts Amanda to a company function, and shares his dream of owning a jazz club. Jo's potential romance with a model is quashed when he learns about her pregnancy. She is taking a job in Hawaii, and wanted Jake to spend a little time with their son. Sydney feels guilty about blackmailing Michael, so she puts him on the payroll in exchange for certain favors. Amanda mends her relationships with Eve and Peter. Sydney convinces Matt to visit her in prison, and tells him that Kimberly is setting her up.

Kyle and Amanda are anxious to speed up the construction on their house, but learn that it will cost them. Jennifer tells Billy that she has known about Sam's affair with Jeff for months. Megan notices that Terry seems a bit too affectionate toward Ryan. Megan talks Michael into donating the money to a church. She reluctantly admits that Reed is the father of her child, and is shocked when the Carters sue her for custody. Jake insists that he doesn't want to reunite with Amanda, but Jo breaks up with him. Megan (who has been hired as Burns/Mancini's receptionist) tries to use company money to pay for a private nurse. He finds that most of his money is already gone.

A detective reveals to Amanda that Peter is lying about his identity. Alex admits that he had invented a work emergency in the hopes of getting closer to Jane. Jo is distressed when Jane reiterates the fact that she doesn't love Richard. Billy and Alison have a disastrous date. Michael pretends to go out of town, then keeps Jane and Alex under surveillance. Michael, prompted to investigate by Amanda, learns that Peter has been padding his income through a phony research project. Michael ships Kimberly to Rochester for a job interview so that he can move Amanda into the beach house and watch over her. She sleeps with Jake, while Billy is left alone in the rooftop restaurant he had rented for their date. Alison gives Brooke a full-time job after she convinces her father to let them use his house for a shoot. Alison decides to divorce Jake and move to Atlanta. She vows to use Eve's past to destroy Peter's reputation. Billy is saddled with bad credit because he has yet to pay off a college loan that he didn't even need. She wants to call off the engagement, but Terry apologizes and admits that she caught Ryan by surprise. Matt loses his job when the halfway house shuts down. When she visits him in prison, he vows that he will get out. Samantha is unnerved by a tender moment between Billy and Alison. Billy moves in with Jennifer. Lexi tells Peter that Brett fell in love with Kimberly while she was in a coma, and later had an affair with her. Terry pretends to leave town, and Ryan and Megan get married. A lazy lab technician's error convinces Kyle that he is sterile.

When her plan fails, she starts a rumor that Amanda won the award by sleeping with Drew. He gives her a new jeep and confesses his feelings. Kyle is outraged when Amanda begins dating Lexi's sleazy friend Rory Blake. Paul is mortally wounded in a shootout and confesses to his wife's murder before dying. He threatens to turn her in unless she returns to Cleveland and checks into a sanitarium.

Megan says that she is willing to move to Philadelphia with Brett. As Michael is called to the podium to give the keynote address, he runs out of a bedroom in his underwear and says that Jane collapsed. Jane and Michael agree to take custody of his and Taylor's son. Dr. Shulman overhears Eve discussing her prison background with Jackie. December 16, 1992. Amanda is angry when Taylor shows up at the courthouse. Jane promises to give Amanda 25 percent of the business if she can arrange this. Ignoring a threat from Tony's unstable wife, she destroys the film from Amanda's commercial, before coming on to Tony and asking him to keep her in mind as a second choice. Kimberly asks Peter to take Michael out of town for a few days so that she can have time to herself. Alison learns that she is pregnant. Keith stays with Alison while his estranged wife, Lily, is in town for the weekend. Susan moves in with Alison when a chef job in Santa Barbara falls through. Carter gives Sydney a beautiful sports car, but is too busy to spend time with her. Jennifer mistakenly believes that Billy plans to leave the country without her. Jake dumps Jane after she issues an ultimatum about avoiding Sydney. Eve bitch-slaps Dr. Shulman when she continues to make trouble at the hospital.

Peter returns the ransom money to Amanda and Kyle, explaining that Beck pressured the kidnappers. Billy is irritated by her behavior, although Samantha claims she is harmless. Jo turns to Jake for advice, but he has nothing to say to her. Billy and Jake look for a tree for the courtyard, and end up running into Jo and Alison. Peter and Amanda tie the knot in an island ceremony. Alison confronts her father in front of all the prominent townspeople at a barbecue, and pushes him into admitting his guilt. Peter again asks Kimberly to plead insanity.

Peter hires an efficiency expert named Caitlin Mills, who proves to be a headache for Amanda. The apartment building goes up for sale. Matt regains his job in a settlement with the halfway house, but uses his monetary winnings to fund a scholarship. He backs out of the deal after catching Peri using drugs, and later lands a job as a mechanic. Jane sprains her ankle and returns home to reunite with the "innocent" Michael. Jane takes a job at AWA. Lexi learns that Ryan has been engaged three times.
