It's All Over Now, Baby Blue". Of course the title track is a McGuinn-classic which gets a good rework here different from the EASY RIDER version, and the only actual Parsons-original „Gunga Din“ is excellent, shimmering, dylan-esque folk rock (what’s the obsession with that movie? Released 29 October 1969 on Columbia (catalog no.
Edit Release All Versions of this Release New Submission . Especially John York’s „Fido“ sounds like one of those Dylan rip-offs by Manfred Mann – a leaner, pop-ified version of „Mighty Quinn“ with fuzzy guitars and an instrumental percussion break. Okay, so it was not what was originally planned (a Bob Dylan/Byrds collaboration overseen by their shared producer Bob Johnstone which was scuppered when Johnstone was relieved of his duties with The Byrds for dubbing a female chorus on to their single-only cover of 'Lady Lady Lay' without their consent), but with Terry Melcher back on production duty the sound was back up to pre-Bob Johnstone standards. If Dr. Byrds & Mr. Hyde found
I never had time for 'Fido' though; apart from that, it's a treat.E após quatro bons discos (dois deles, excelentes), os Byrds voltam a oscilar. Wird alles wieder gut? Dennoch kein Highlight im Oevre der Band. That title really only applies to the first half, where the newbies cohere into a perky sort of twang that balances both the composure and restlessness inherent to their outlaw shtick.
The arrangements are rich in subtle details & the playing (especially from Clarence White on lead guitar) is gorgeous. Alguns funcionam muito bem como "Tulsa County", "There Must Be Someone" e "Deportee", mas a maioria tem versões mais fracas (como "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" de Dylan). FRM-9942 The last great album by the Byrds, in my opinion. Why the rip-off though? Featured peformers: Roger McGuinn (guitar, synthesizer, aka_text vocal role_id 1001.aka_text), Clarence White (lead guitar, vocals), John York (electric bass, vocals), Gene Parsons (drums, guitar, banjo, vocals), Terry Melcher (producer).
By the time "Ballad of Easy Rider" was recorded, The Byrds were an exhausted band.
If Dr. Byrds & Mr. Hyde found Roger McGuinn having to re-create the Byrds after massive personnel turnovers (and not having an easy time of it), Ballad of Easy Rider was the album where the new lineup really hit its stride.
This is sun-blasted music and most of it is exquisite, making it arguably one of the most accomplished country-rock records ever made. Got to admit that I just don't understand how this wonderful (well, all bar the dire 'Fido' but you expect at least one dud on most Byrds albums) record has attracted negative reviews because as far as I'm concerned it is the hidden jewel in this illustrious band's catalogue. As soon as John York quit and Skip Battin replaced him, the Byrds lost their way, in my opinion. The odd decent little flourish. But hmmmmm. This album is certainly much stronger than the general opinions of the internet would have you believe. Genres: Folk Rock, Country Rock. Ballad of Easy Rider, an Album by The Byrds. Mann mann mann... da mag man fast gar nicht weiterhören.

Issued at the close of 1969, this is easily the most laid-back offering the Byrds ever offered us & it captures the end-the-decade mood perfectly.
